- Subject: [Tikievents] Christmas music and King Kukulele live
Cleveland/Akron DJ and The Three Suns and Enoch Light expert Michael Toth aka Tothar will be live on the air in Los Angeles this weekend and says:
I'll be doing my "Beyondophonic Action Hour" radio show live
in the Luxuria studio this Sunday Dec. 6.
I'll be
joined by special guests The Millionaire and King Kukulele, the latter
of whom will be singing and strumming live.
The King's music will
include songs from his "Luau In December" Tiki Christmas CD.
Also,
the other Lux DJs will be dropping in during and after my show,
extending into the evening as the station's on-air Christmas party. I
expect my normal broadcast hour will be archived in the Podcasts, but I
suspect that the "after-show" won't be. So you'll need to tune in live
to Lux if you don't want to miss anything.
JohnT's
"Thrifting For Tunes" before my show (6pm Pacific, 9pm Eastern) will
kick off the festivities on Sunday with John spinning holiday sounds. I
should also mention that John and I will be doing a new pair of
crossover shows on Dec. 13. He and I will stop in on each other's
programs, that night sharing selections by A, B, and C artists from our
respective collections. And then on Dec. 20, he and I will be repeating
last year's 1st-ever "Akron vs. Montreal" collaborative shows.
Lastly,
to generate funds to keep the station fiscally afloat and to culturally
enrich the world, Luxuria is selling limited-edition Christmas CDs
compiled by Tothar and the rest of the Lux DJ crew. (The CDs also have
super-cool cover art designed by Kevin Kidney.) You'll invariably want
one copy for yourself plus a pile of extras for Christmas gifts for
your coolest friends. But act soon as supplies ARE limited (to 300,
specifically)! Info follows below.

Leave it to LuxuriaMusic to go fearlessly where no online radio-station fund drive has gone before. The feisty Webcaster (
www.luxuriamusic.com), soon to celebrate its tenth anniversary, kicks off its winter drive November 8 by offering listeners
Snow What? A LuxuriaMusic Holiday Happening,
a double-CD compilation of rare, curious and culturally insignificant
Christmas and Chanukah songs curated by the station’s eccentric
music-expert DJs.
At just $25, the premium will likely be an
offer few LuxuriaMusic subscribers or true music geeks can refuse.
Where else might one find, in one place, such fireside favorites as
“Santa’s Italian Wife,” “Lem, the Orphan Reindeer” and “I Know What He
Wants for Christmas” by Kay Martin & Her Bodyguards.
“The
idea behind Snow What? is two-fold,” explains LuxuriaMusic general
manager Chuck Kelley. “First, it’s a way for subscribers to help move
their favorite station into the New Year. Second, it gives people a
chance to snag a great Christmas gift to give someone else. You won’t
find this music anywhere else, so it has a unique appeal for hardcore
music fans. It’s got all kinds of holiday material: lounge/exotica,
punk, rock ’n’ roll, soul, country, novelty, ethnic humor. We’ll be
offering the CD from Nov. 8 all the way up to Dec. 24, so you don’t
have to order before midnight!”
