Check out JESSE McKINLEY's review of the Tiki scene and possible demise of San Francisco's iconic Tonga Room in San Francisco. Most notably the article states:
Nathan Ballard, a spokesman for Mayor Gavin Newsom, said he sympathized with the nostalgia but wondered how long it would last.
“I
think to most San Franciscans, the Tonga is like Alcatraz or the Coit
Tower, ” Mr. Ballard said. “We say we love it, but let’s be honest, we
never really go there.”
That said, Tom Klein, the hotel’s
general manager, said the recent campaign [to save the Tonga Rm] had led hotel officials to consider moving the
Tonga Room elsewhere if the condo deal goes through.

Let's prove Nathan Ballard wrong and actually go there! And we all know that moving the Tonga Room is not the same as saving the Tonga Room. Therefore the only option for the hotel owners should be a condo plan that retains the Tonga Room.
Stay tuned for a future protest date and plan of action to save the Tonga.
