The Fraternal Order of Moai Presents “OHANA: Luau at the Lake,” at the
Tiki Resort in Lake George, New York, September 18-20, 2009
Tikiphiles from throughout the nation will descend upon the Howard
Johnson’s Tiki Resort in Lake George, New York for a weekend
celebration of the best of “Poly pop” in this historic setting. The
weekend-long event, entitled OHANA: Luau at the Lake, will feature live
music, exotic cocktails and vendors, and culminate in the resort’s
famous Polynesian dinner show at the Waikiki Supper Club and Lounge.
Attendees will enjoy the music of Waitiki, 9th Wave, Bamboo Saxotica,
Fisherman, the Cocktail Preachers and talented ukulele players. There
will be a limited-edition mug designed by Squid, souvenir magazine,
room crawl, raffles, silent auction, a mini golf tournament and much
more. Tickets are $75, which includes a reproduction of the hurricane
glass which used to be available at the Tiki Resort for those who
purchase before April 30. Visit the website http://www.LuauAtTheLake.com to get yours!
OHANA: Luau at the Lake grew out of the previous highly successful
Fraternal Order of Moai events Northeast Tiki Tour and the Hot Rod Hula
Hop. The Northeast Tiki Tour has hosted three bus tours to
Polynesian-inspired restaurants in New England. Each tour sold out and
reinforced the need for organized tiki events in the Northeast. The Hot
Rod Hula Hop weekend event was hosted in Columbus, Ohio for 4 years,
growing bigger each year, with two nights of bands, an all day car
show, silent auction for charity, and food & vending booths. OHANA:
Luau at the Lake is taking elements from both of these events to create
a unique experience that will be one of the premier events of 2009!
Some proceeds from OHANA: Luau at the Lake will go to the Easter Island Foundation. The Easter Island Foundation (http://islandheritage.org)
is the Fraternal Order of Moai’s national charity, and is a non-profit
501(c)(3) organization, which promotes conservation and protection of
the fragile cultural heritage of Easter Island and other Polynesian
islands.
