[Tikievents] King Kukulele at Egyptian Theater; Bosko show in PS;Tiki Oasis 8 on the radio

Title: King Kukulele at Egyptian Theater; Bosko show in PS; Tiki
Saturday July 26th, 2008 5pm
$22 Luau Dinner & Show or $29 Luau and Movie Program

After landing at the Purple Orchid and the Tonga Hut the Floating Luau brings us back to the Egyptian Movie Palace for the 4th Annual Tiki Luau in Hollywood!
Featuring:
HER JUNGLE LOVE, 1938, Universal, 81 min. Dir. George Archainbaud. Aviator Ray Milland and partner Lynne Overman are searching for a missing plane when they're marooned on what seems like a deserted island. Deserted -- except for the lovely Dorothy Lamour, who is a goddess to the natives of the adjoining isles and is soon being romanced by hero Milland. Neighboring native chief J. Carroll Naish hates white men and soon slots our heroes for sacrifice to crocodiles. But villain Naish doesn't count on having to deal with the obligatory erupting volcano. Supremely entertaining, in sumptuous color. NOT ON DVD
PLUS
"Tiki on TV" Approx. 30 min. Watch seldom-seen Tiki TV classics presented by Los Angeles artist Kevin Kidney. Just as mainland Tiki restaurants and watering holes perfected the artifice of exotic environments, Hollywood's hills and backlots masqueraded as the island tropics for television viewers of the '50s and '60s. Filled with clip highlights from the shows themselves, Kevin's program will include never-before-seen images and fascinating ephemera -- and explore how these programs influenced other areas of midcentury American culture, from nightlife to travel.
AND
The Polynesian Paradise Dancers grace the Egyptian courtyard once more with Hula and Tahitian dances fit for King Tut. They have performed around the globe and are home again in Hollywood to give this Glamour City a bit of traditional glamour with a natural Hawaiian feel. They are the Hula maidens waiting to tell you stories with their hands in the courtyard of the Egyptian as it has been done for hundreds of years.
ALSO
King Kukulele and The Friki Tikis will keep the Hapa Haole spirit alive with old classics and original tunes too. A few musical surprises are in store to commemorate the history of Tiki in film. On this once a year occasion the Friki Tikis like to celebrate the Silver Screen with a luau that won't quit. We'll play a few film tunes for the audience to warm up the Egyptians for a night at the movies.
PLUS
Vendors from the Exotic World of Tiki will bring you their handcrafted wares to take home and cherish. Don't miss out on this chance to add to your collection.
AND
No Luau would be complete with out our Luau Feast, so come ready to eat, drink, dance, and watch movies!
ALSO
For you mondo movie buffs, our event will be preceded on Friday night with a Tiki double feature with these exciting films:
ALOMA OF THE SOUTH SEAS, 1941
FAIR WIND TO JAVA, 1953
