I am proud to announce that I share a birthday with one of the most prominent and treasured Tiki icons on the planet - The Mai Kai in Ft Lauderdale!

It is their 50th anniversary this year and they are relaunching their legendary Mai Kai calendar
This year's calendar features previously unreleased historic photos
Let's hope that this calendar release will spawn future calendars and the Mai kai will return to publishing annual calendars featuring their cocktail waitresses on each month
If you'd like to order click the link below. To inquire about future calendars write info@maikai.com

Usually it is not too hard for me to fully endorse anything that Shag is involved with. He is such a talented, creative artist and nice guy that I support whatever he does 100%. But this one is a little weird. So I asked Josh, what's the story behind this concept?
Turns out that MGM holds a limited license to his artwork and they can use it however they want. So they farmed it out to this company to create this product. Ironically this item might become a very valuable Shag collectors item as the license only lasts til the end of 2006. How many of these things could they sell by the end of the year!?!

Wondrous Arts is proud to announce our Pink Panther 40th Anniversary by SHAG tiki products, perfect for your Holiday Gift Guides and collectibles news! Please see the attached press release for details.

After sharing my own modest Tiki mug score story I got the following gem:

About 4 months ago a co-worker alerted me to a garage sale up here in Petaluma. Perhaps 3 miles from where I live. The add was posted on Craigslist and the seller was selling his entire Tiki Mug collection. So, of course I jumped on this and was there early, about 7 am that Saturday morning. He had about 50 mugs for sale at about a buck a mug. Some were dupes that I already had but took some anyway. I ended up with 40 mugs. Among his collection was a rare mug from "Tiki Bobs" of San Francisco. It was the day I had been waiting for. I had finally hit,............"The Mother Load".
