[Tikievents] Tiki Art Now Sept 15, black velvet paintings,Selector Lopaka, Munktiki Mug

Tiki Art Now volume 3 opens at Roq la Rue gallery, Seattle on Sept 15, 6 pm - 9 pm
After party at Lava Lounge from 10 pm to midnight

As usual it features the top artists creating Tiki art today

We will also be premiering rarely seen black velvet paintings by Burke Tyree formerly of Modesto, CA
Ralph "Burke" Tyree is a relatively unrecognized master of velvet painting who arguably surpassed Leeteg in technique and originality of composition. The exhibit at Roq la Rue will show seven of his pieces but only one will be for sale. If you are interested please contact the gallery at

Also available opening night will be a super limited edition Munktiki mug designed specifically for this event.
This Tiki totem mug is available in lava black or traditional wooden color and will be limited to two per person. It is not available via mailorder. Photo of the mug will be up on the gallery's website one week prior to opening of the show

In addition to the art,
Dionysus recording artist and Tiki Oasis alumni Lushy will play a set at 7 pm
Seattle's own Selector Lopaka, also a Tiki Oasis alumni, will provide a continuous live Exotica soundtrack spinning a vintage and contemporary vinyl mix.

DJ Dave Rauschenberg will bust a move at the afterparty at the Lava Lounge from 9 pm til midnight
(DJ set starts at 10)
There will be drink specials, snacks, and another opportunity to get your catalog signed by the authors - Larry Reid & Otto von Stroheim - and the artists.
